I can’t wait to tell you about the amazing spa day at D.Tour Spa in MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit my sister and enjoyed this week! Even saying “spa day” makes me smile, because it sounds so special. I’ve had about 10 massages in my lifetime, so I am by far not an expert but I kind of knew what to expect. (Well, I thought I did…I was wrong).
As part of a small media event at the D.Tour Spa we were invited to experience the spa and become familiar with the facility. You know that we’ve partnered with MotorCity Casino Hotel before, right? We escaped for an overnight getaway here and when we enjoyed an enchanted dinner at Iridescence. But I never even ventured to the spa, so the entire experience was new to me. I brought along my sweet sister, as my guest.
Upon arrival at D.Tour Spa
At check in we were greeted and given a tour of the spa, at which time I began to rethink my preconceived ideas of how the day would be. We toured the expansive area, dreaming of dipping our toes in the thermal whirlpool and venturing into the eucalyptus steam room as we walked on by. There is also a dry sauna and a rain shower. The D.Tour Spa features 10 private treatment rooms. From the moment you enter the facility the relaxing music and lighting sets your body into unwinding.
We were taken to the women’s locker room and given a luscious robe and spa shoes. (There is a men’s locker room as well.)
Relax and enjoy
Once we nestled into our robes and enjoyed a glass of water we relaxed in the lounge area and waited to be called for our services. We were booked for a MotorCity Music massage which is the D.Tour Spa’s signature massage, featuring high-tech and high-touch therapy. Speakers are embedded into the massage table (which has an amazing satin sheet that feels so much nicer than the cotton sheets I’ve had at other massages). While you are enjoying the massage you can hear and feel the soothing music; I’ve never experienced that before and it was really enjoyable.
My sister and I reconnected after our massages; we snagged a little snack and returned to the lounge.
The sugar scrub
My sister’s next service wasn’t for an hour so she enjoyed the thermal whirlpool the eucalyptus steam room. I was summoned for my D.Tour Drive Sugar Scrub.
I had never experienced a body scrub before, but what a treat! I could just imagine all the yucky dead skin being sloughed away. The combination of the scrub and the soothing hands of the technician felt good. The warm in room shower and the finishing D.Tour Shea Body Butter Cream made me feel relaxed and rejuvenated.
Afterwards I slipped into my bathing suit and tried the whirlpool and the steam room. Fabulous! One of the things I love about D.tour Spa is that it is laid out in a way that you have privacy. The dim lighting and soothing sounds, coupled with the extreme professionalism of the staff allow you to enjoy this special time and really switch off from the real world. Even with the other spa customers, I felt like I was a world away. Just so you know, this is a clothing optional spa, but we felt most comfortable in our suits for exploring the common areas.
What a “wow” day
As the day passed several times we looked at each other with a “wow” expression, so thankful for our precious time of pampering. If you are like we are, you fail to take time out for yourself often. Why do we do this? We all work so hard and manage such stressful lives, we need to make more of a point to focus on our own self-care.
The designer of the D.Tour Spa has thought of everything; and it is beautiful!

While I was in the lounge I explored the brochure of services and was amazed to see all the treatments that the D.Tour Spa offers. The next time our husbands want to venture to Detroit, we’ll be staying at Motor City Casino Hotel. We are going back to the spa! In reality, I can easily go through $110 in gambling at the slot machines, and a MotorCity Music Massage would be far more enjoyable. Oh, and once you enter the spa for your service you can come and go throughout the day. The staff explained that we could leave the spa to gamble or snag a bite to eat and then return that day to enjoy the sauna, whirlpool, steam room and lounge areas. That is a fabulous perk, and one we are dreaming of taking advantage of!
