One of the ways that avid couponers gain more coupons to use is to purchase them.  This can mean buying extra weekly newspapers or going online to buy extra coupons.  But where?  There are several places online to purchase coupons including coupon clipping services and on eBay.  On eBay the volume and variety of coupons for sale is enormous.  There are online sellers that sell whole coupon inserts as well as those that sell individual coupons as well as “lots” of coupons.  On eBay the term “lot” means simply a group.  For example, a seller may offer a listing with a “lot” of diaper coupons;  this could include Huggies, Pampers, etc.

If you want to buy coupons on eBay, you will need to have an eBay account.  It is free to join eBay, and you can go here to sign up for eBay.  Once you join then you can browse eBay and review all the items for sale.   We sell on eBay so we have some important real-experience tips for you to remember when shopping on eBay:

  • Be specific in your search to narrow down your potential coupon purchasing options (otherwise the amount of listings can be overwhelming)
  • Auction listings work like a live auction;  the highest bidder in the stated time frame wins the item
  • Fixed price or “buy it now” listings are available for immediate purchase.  Similar to purchasing an item on any other website, you simply click and buy
  • Only pay for your item with Paypal (also free to join);  this is an online payment service that you can use to pay for an item by pulling funds out of your checking account or by using your credit card.  Paypal is 100% safe and if you pay with Paypal your purchase is backed by their guarantee.
  • Watch the shipping charges listed in the item.  Shipping fees are up to the seller, so you want to be sure you find a seller who is offering a fair price to ship your coupons to you.
  • Check the seller’s feedback.  Feedback is a great tool to gauge the seller’s online reputation.

Once you buy an item on eBay you will see a confirmation screen with a link to pay.  Simply follow the prompts and pay your seller.  The quicker you  pay, the quicker the seller will get the coupons in the mail to you.  If you have any questions about your transaction, feel free to email the seller.  Most eBay sellers are friendly and willing to assist buyers;  they understand that new shoppers often are nervous and apprehensive about purchasing on eBay.  Don’t be shy!

Once you see how easy it is  to shop on eBay for coupons you may just discover this is a new go-to place to stock up.  Have you ever bought coupons on eBay?

  1. Hi. I was just wondering why people would buy coupons on ebay? I think it’s kind of strange to “buy” coupons when you’re trying to save by using coupons. I don’t know if that made any sense… would you actually be saving money by buying coupons? i think it would be same either way…

    • Esther,
Buying coupons does mean spending extra money, we agree. However if your family is a heavy user of an item (or more) that has a “hot” coupon released for it then it would make sense to spend a little money to buy extra coupons to save a lot of money stocking up on that item. If you have watched TLC’s Extreme Couponing show you’ve seen examples of coupon users turning in a large volume of duplicate coupons to score large quantities of one item. This is one way they get all those duplicate coupons. It’s not for everyone, but we wanted to give couponers the tools to go this route if they so desire.

      Thanks for your input!

  2. I do time to time when a really good coupon or sale comes out and it is a product that we use a ton of. One example was Yoplait frozen smoothies had a coupon out last year that was good for about 2 months and my husband loves to have one for breakfast. So we can buy quite a few every week and buying 20 or coupons we saved quite a few dollars on something we would have bought anyway.
