Comfort Suites of Marquette – Excellent Place to Stay (Our Review)

One of our last places to visit during our whirlwind road trip of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula was Marquette. Marquette is the most populated city in the UP, so it is a bit more of what we are accustomed to as residents of the Lower Peninsula.

When we arrived in town we were delighted to find that our accommodations for the evening at the Comfort Suites put us smack dab in the middle of the action. The location of the hotel is very convenient to shopping and dining as well as a short drive from Northern Michigan University. The day we happened to stay was Sunday and the hotel was very busy when we arrived.

Our first impression of the hotel as we drove up was one of happiness; it looked fairly new and has a welcoming exterior. We also quickly noticed it was within walking distance to two restaurants, Hudson’s Classic Grill & Bar and Perkins of Marquette. What a relief to know that we did not have to get back in our car at dinner time to find somewhere to eat! We have been in the car a lot, so a quick walk to dinner was a welcomed change. (Feeling really lazy? Both restaurants offer room service to guests of the hotel!).

The lobby of the hotel is pretty, classy and inviting. Check in was a breeze and the staff were very friendly.

We stayed on the 3rd floor; look at how lovely our room was!

King size bed, large flat screen television, desk, sofa, refrigerator and multiple plugs within easy reach for charging our devices (we love that!). The bedding felt very new, and of high quality. There was no hesitation to curl up on the bed; the crisp white sheets and comforter were inviting and didn’t hide any unknown leftovers from previous guests. We love it when a hotel uses white bedding!

After taking some time to relax and watch some Detroit Tigers baseball we explored the hotel to find a heated indoor pool, hot tub and sauna that is open late plus a 24 hour fitness center and business center. Again – welcome places to relax that did not require any more time in the vehicle.

We slept like babies, relaxing in the high quality bed and very quiet surroundings. You may remember I mentioned that the hotel was busy when we checked in, but we did not hear any noise or commotion from other guests the entire night. What a relief! We’ve all stayed in hotels that seem to have walls that are paper thin so you hear everything the other guests are saying; that is not the case at the Comfort Suites. We awoke refreshed, relaxed and hungry.

To our delight they offer a complimentary hot breakfast in the morning that featured a wide variety of options including scrambled eggs, cereal, sausage, yogurt, boiled eggs, pastries, bagels, English muffins, fresh fruit, oatmeal, make your own waffles, coffee, tea, milk and juice. The dining area is very large and the seating is upscale; we felt as if we were in a restaurant as we enjoyed our complimentary breakfast.

We were so pleased with our stay at Comfort Suites; we highly recommend this convenient place to stay next time you are in the area for business or pleasure. You will not be disappointed!
